Syed Abid Hussain alias Ali Bhai of the Dawood Ibrahim gang had developed a nexus with ‘lady don’ Farah Fathima to settle land disputes in the city. Police got this information after interrogating Ali Bhai, who was arrested by a Task Force team led by DCP V.B. Kamalasan Red-dy. Police found that Ali Bhai was involved in Haw-ala transactions from the city to UAE. Sleuths are trying to get information from Ali Bhai about the operations of the D-gang in AP, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra.

Commissioner of Police Balwinder Singh said that the Mumbai and Pune police might arrive in Hyderabad to file prisoner transit warrant in the local court. "We will also file a petition seeking his custody," he said. Ali Bhai is a close associate of D-gang member Abdul Qayyum Shaik and the chief of an interstate gang. He was involved in the abduction of Satish Kumar in 2004 in Langer Houz and of Sumedha in Jubilee Hills, said the commissioner.
