The movie Dirty Picture is going to be released on the birthday of
the South Indian actress Silk Smitha, which is on December 2, 2011.
The movie, directed by Milan Luthria and produced by Shobha Kapoor
and Ekta Kapoor, will showcase the life of late telugu actress and
item number Silk Smitha, who had made her journey towards stardom.
The character of Silk Smitha will be portrayed in the movie by
Bollywood actress Vidya Balan. This is the first time actor Emraan
Hashmi and Vidya Balan have been cast opposite each other.
The producer of the movie, Ektaa Kapoor, said that 'Dirty
Picture' would be India's answer to the Academy Award nominated film
Boogie Nights. Later in a press conference, Kapoor clarified that
neither of Balaji's films, 'Ragini MMS' nor 'The Dirty Picture' were
"porn films", as they were made out to be.
