The road shows of Kadapa MP Y S
Jaganmohan Reddy, for the first time after his father Y S Rajasekhara Reddy’s
death, were a resounding success.
Jaganmohan Reddy on Friday kicked off his election campaign for the Congress
candidates in the GHMC polls from Maheshwaram. He has chosen those
constituencies, which are represented by staunch YSR loyalists for the campaign.
As such, they ensured that there was a huge turn out at every meeting and the
crowds cheered at him, as he waved at them and addressed them.
The tone and tenor of his speech resembled that of his late father. As he waved
at them, the Congress leaders played the voice of YSR, saying: “Namasthe
Chellemma, Namasthe Akkayya, Namasthe Annayya, Namasthe Tammudu….” In every
sentence, Jagan stirred the emotions of the audience by taking YSR;s name. ‘I
have never imagined that I would address you in the absence of my father,” he
said.
Though initially, Jaganmohan Reddy did not evince much interest in the campaign
and was waiting for PCC president D Srinivas or Chief minister K Rosaiah to make
an appeal to him. However, AICC observers who met him the other day, advised him
to participate in the campaign, since Sonia Gandhi was keenly watching his
moves. Having no other option, he took up the campaign.
